Job Vacancy – Childminder’s Assistant
At Millmoot’s Little Boots Childcare we are looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Assistant to join our small team of positive and like-minded individuals, who understands the importance of creating a nurturing ‘home from home’ environment for our children and families.
Millmoot’s Little Boots is a home located on a farm in the village of Cossington. We regularly interact with livestock and pets, so a confidence around all animals, both big and small, is essential. We go outside every day, to either potter in the veg patch or garden, go for walks around the village or out on day trips. We do this in all weather, so any applicant would need to have a love of the outdoors and enjoy being active.
Key tasks and responsibilities:

To take part in play-based activities that stimulate and support children’s intellectual, physical, social, emotional and language development.

To help plan and prepare activities.

To assist and support children with personal care requirements. This may include changing nappies, assisting with toileting needs, changing clothes and shoes, and helping children at mealtimes.

To assist with general day to day requirements of the setting such as tidying away toys and cleaning up after mealtimes.

To assist with school drop offs and collection when needed.

To assist with preparing snacks and meals for children.

Maintain children’s online learning journals following the birth to 5 matters and EYFS in accordance with statutory requirements. (Training and support will be provided)

Attend training and staff meetings to ensure a continuation of personal professional development and to ensure that your knowledge and skills are up to date and relevant to the position.

To accompany the children and registered childminders on trips, for example to local parks or on other planned outings. This will involve driving children in your own car.

To always abide by all policies and procedures in place within the setting and be aware of Ofsted requirements.

Complying with the requirements of the EYFS and Childcare Register.

Maintain confidentiality for staff and children and comply with the requirements of the Information Commissioners Office regarding Data Protection.

Complying with Health and Safety at Work legislation.
-
To be aware of the settings Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy (training will be provided).
-
To be aware of emergency procedures and what procedures are to be followed in the event of an accident or incident.

And any duties that your line manager sees fit, providing that such duties are appropriate to your roll.
Person Specification:
ESSENTIAL
-
Be able to pass DBS and Ofsted Clearance.
-
Provide two references (who are not friends or relatives).
-
Proven ability to work as part of a team to ensure day to day tasks are completed.
-
Desire and passion for ongoing learning and personal development.
-
Must be reliable, trustworthy and hard working.
-
Have good communication skills to build relationships with members of the team and parents.
-
Use initiative and be proactive to ensure the smooth running of the setting.
-
Be confident interacting with animals.
-
Have a love of the outdoors.
-
To hold a Full Driving License.
-
To have a reliable car that can be used to transport children on day trips (day trip expenses and extra insurance paid for).
DESIRABLE
-
Have previous experience of working with children.
-
An understanding of child protection and safeguarding (training will be provided if necessary).
-
An understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (training can be given if necessary).
-
An understanding of food hygiene (training can be given if necessary).
-
Paediatric first aid qualification (training can be provided if necessary).
Job type:
-
2 days a week: Monday (either 8.15 – 4 or 9.00 – 3.00) and Thursday (either 8.15 – 4.30 or 9.00 – 3.00). 12 - 16 hours in total, term time only.

Possibility of overtime.

£11.44 per hour

Expected start date – the beginning of September
